Why should I use telemedicine when I have the opportunity to use traditional methods?

Telemedicine has multiple benefits in multiple situations. Telemedicine involves human interpretations by real doctors; it's only that we use advanced technology to connect a patient with a doctor (or a doctor with another doctor for case discussion) remotely. Telemedicine comes more handy in emergency situations or at times when expert opinion is needed but not available locally.  Please read our article section to learn more details about the advantages of using telemedicine.

Are you guys real or virtual healthcare providers?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by virtual, but yes we are real people with real medical and technology background and physical presence at multiple locations (please see the contact us section to learn more about our physical address). We welcome guests to visit our facility and sit with one of our representative doctors to discuss his/her needs with regards to the use of our telemedicine solutions for ongoing care. We have contracted with senior consultants around the globe as well as local healthcare providers to deliver a set of very specialized and highly competitive consultation & second opinion services.

What is Malpractice Insurance?

Some countries make it mandatory for the practitioners to have certain amount of insurance coverage in case there is misinterpretation of the images. This indemnifies any healthcare facilities we are dealing with from any kind of damage caused by such a misinterpretation.  All our foreign consultants and radiologists are fully covered with malpractice insurance.

What is ghosting/ghost reading?

Ghosting or ghost reading refers to the case when interpretation of the clinical images is done by non-certified/licensed radiologists and a certified radiologist like an ABR (American Board Radiologist) signs it off using his credentials without going through the interpretation by himself.  At Telemed Providers we strictly prohibit such unethical and illegal practices, particularly when it comes to patient care. Telemed Providers is a Middle East based company and we employ different credentialed radiologists/consultants based on the need of the patient and healthcare organizations with different set of pricing and charges; hence things are clear upfront at the time of signing the contract as to what sort of services are being sought by the end-customer based on their requirement and budget and we 100% guarantee that the patient gets what he has paid for.

How Does It Work?

It works differently for a patient, a healthcare service provider, an imaging center, a hospital or a consultant.  Please read our “how it works” section on the website to understand fully the telemedicine workflow cycle. However, to put it in simple terms, we use the latest technology to provide patients and healthcare facilities in the Middle East with the opportunity to get consultations from specialists with world-class qualifications from all over the globe.

Why Are Telemedicine Services Expensive?

Actually it is not as expensive as many people imagine. You might be paying a little extra compared to what you may be paying a local consultant. However, if you are in need of a second opinion by a world-class specialist regarding a life-changing medical decision (please refer to our second opinion section for examples), and you consider the alternative which will probably involve long-distance calls, traveling to remote locations, accommodation, etc, you will come to realize that our services at Telemed Providers allow you to get the second opinion you need at a fraction of the cost.

My doctor wants me to undergo major surgery, but I need to take an expert opinion before I decide to ahead with that, what do I do?

Now Telemed Providers has made it easy to get an expert opinion without having to worry about traveling and all that stuff. You simply need to contact one of our customer service representatives who will guide you through the process. If you need a second opinion on imaging studies, our representatives will guide you through how to submit you study and you will get a second interpretation from one of our consultants and reports will be delivered to you within 24 hours (STAT reporting is available for a little extra cost). If you or your physician wants to discuss the case directly with one of our foreign experts, that can be done either at our office or at your physician’s office. A local doctor at our end helps in translation if language is a barrier.

I have a certain medical condition which I prefer to discuss personally with one of your consultants, how do I do that?

Easy.  Call our customer service representative to make an appointment at one of our telemedicine units near you. You can then directly speak to our foreign consultant live at the time of the appointment. The session is carried out in complete privacy only between you and the consultant, unless an interpretation is needed or the consultant needs assistance from our local doctor for a checkup or labs.

I am a highly qualified physician and want to use telemedicine to broaden my patient base, how can I qualify as a consultant for Telemed Providers?

Yes, of course! We employ local consultants who are authority in their domain and highly experienced and educated.  Through our strong presence in the area, we have regular stream of patients looking for senior local consultants. We commit to excellence in our medical services, hence you will need to provide us with as much information as possible to back your qualification, like research papers, years of experience, consulting hospitals, references, credentialing and other certification.
